New Candidate - 2023

We Need Change!
I’ve been knocking on doors and listening to your concerns. It’s clear that City Council has lost the community’s trust. We need to make some changes!

  • We can change the Cycling Safety Ordinance (CSO). Businesses are cut off from customers; clients, patients and visitors can’t find parking spaces and traffic on some streets is more congested! I’ll work to modify the ordinance so are streets serve us all!
  • We can change the Affordable Housing Ordinance (AHO). We need affordable and low income housing but we don’t need housing towering over homes wherever developers decide it’s convenient. Our city must also be affordable for working people. I’ll work to modify the ordinance to keep all neighborhoods liveable and thriving!
  • We can change Cambridge so it works for US!

The council needs to listen to the needs of the elderly and disabled, young families with children, local businesses and everyone in between.

Please give me your #1 vote and I promise I will lead the city council to make practical, meaningful changes to take us into a future Cambridge can be proud of!

Background
I’ve lived in Cambridge for 30 years with my son and wife. My son graduated from Rindge-Latin and is attending college this year. I have an MS in Data Science and completed a Fellowship in Clean Energy.

Activist – I organized Porter Square residents and businesses to demand a better solution for the Cycling Safety Ordinance road configuration on Mass Ave so all stakeholders were considered.

Entrepreneur – I launched several successful companies over the last 25 years. I learned to solicit stakeholder input, set specific goals, measure success, and adjust to improve the products. City projects should follow this model.

As your City Councillor, I'll lead on:
Environment – I started two clean energy companies to address CO2 and its harmful emissions. I learned that this problem requires global solutions and I will advocate for effective local CO2 policies within a global context and throughout our government.

Affordable Housing – I oppose the AHO because it relegates this critical responsibility to random developer whims, depends on failed urban renewal tall building strategies, reduces green space, and harms neighborhoods. Moving forward, we must address the different requirements of homeless, low-income, and working-class housing within the city and region. The City has neglected the working-class.

Congestion – I will advocate for experienced traffic engineering for all modes of traffic and demand real data to propose changes and measure results to assure success. I believe safe bike lanes are important, but I will advocate changes to the Cycling Safe Ordinance (CSO). Its implementation does not solve our transportation challenges, removes parking, harms businesses, and makes roads less safe.
