New Candidate - 2025 Building Trust, Delivering Results I’m Elizabeth Bisio, a renter in East Cambridge, co-parent at the Cambridgeport School, and local business owner running for City Council for the first time. My path to public service began as a nurse in the emergency room, where I learned the importance of listening, teamwork, and accountability. Today, as the co-founder and head of product and operations for a veterinary startup based in Cambridge, I continue working to make care systems for both people and pets more accessible, effective, and compassionate. I’m running for City Council because I believe leadership starts with listening and building trust, qualities that have too often been missing in city leadership. We can and should dream big about what’s possible for Cambridge, but that vision must be grounded in accountability and outcomes that deliver real benefits for residents. My PrioritiesSafer Streets, Smarter Planning I support thoughtful, evidence-based infrastructure improvements that make streets safer for everyone. However, I oppose the continued rollout of the current bike lane network, particularly along Broadway, until the City conducts a comprehensive review of its impacts. We must address the loss of resident parking, access challenges for seniors and people with disabilities, and the economic strain placed on small businesses. Balanced transportation planning means prioritizing safety while ensuring accessibility and fairness for all who live and work in Cambridge. Housing That Meets Neighborhood Needs I support replacing the current citywide upzoning ordinance with a better policy that truly addresses affordability, neighborhood context, and sustainability. Housing initiatives should prioritize affordability, require family-sized units, and set high energy-efficiency standards so new development remains accessible, environmentally responsible, and reflective of Cambridge’s diverse communities. Public Health & Safety First I support a coordinated, citywide strategy to address homelessness and addiction that restores safety and order to public spaces while treating people with dignity and compassion. The City must ensure consistent needle pickup, strengthen accountability across departments, and maintain parks and playgrounds that are safe, clean, and accessible for all residents. Public health and public safety should work hand in hand to build trust, protect community spaces, and deliver measurable results. A Responsible Budget I support implementing outcome-based budgeting that protects core community services such as schools, libraries, and parks, while ensuring all new spending delivers measurable results. Cambridge should set clear goals for every major investment and evaluate progress transparently so residents can see where their tax dollars are going. Fiscal responsibility means funding what works, reassessing what doesn’t, and maintaining the city’s long-term financial stability without compromising essential public services.
